About Adam

Adam Fortier-Brown is an experienced communications professional that focuses on helping clients set and reach their goals. He is currently in a strategic communications role with a Military Department where he is responsible for designing and implementing communications plans for the Department’s Climate Strategy and preparing leadership for public engagements, congressional testimony, and other public events.

Adam has been working at the intersection of conservation and rural economic development all his life through his family’s recreational business in central Maine that was active and engaged in its community. He started working with water quality groups to reduce shore erosion and the spread of aquatic invasive species that are more prevalent due to climate change, and then supporting sustainability and environmental equity research at his alma mater, the University of Maine, to inform state policymakers crafting environmental legislation.

Adam’s experiences working in conservation and environmental quality in Maine led him to Washington, D.C. to continue his work at a larger scale. He found himself on the frontlines of historic conservation legislation like the Great American Outdoors Act which simultaneously promoted rural economic development, investments in public lands, and advanced environmental justice initiatives.

Adam is passionate about creating partnerships to advance positive solutions to promote rural and disadvantaged communities and reduce the risks presented by climate change. He also loves to sample local coffee shops, woodfired pizza, and breweries along the beautiful Maine coast.

Adam graduated from the University of Maine magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in economics and political science.
